This Tutorial is to Flash Android L 5.1 on Moto E.
I am not Responsible for any bricks [which are unlikely to happen, follow steps properly]
So to begin the things, first make sure you have stock ROM installed, because you cannot flash directly on Custom ROM so for flashing 4.4.4 click here.
[Flash 4.4.4 for lollipop update]
[Flash 4.4.4 for lollipop update]
Once you are on Stock ROM follow the following steps :-
- First Update the 'Motorola Update services' from google Play store.
- Download the Android L 5.0.2 zip from here. [314 Mb]
- Copy the Android L 5.0.2 zip that you downloaded into External SD card.
- Make sure the name of the zip file is "Blur_Version.22.21.32.condor_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03" (without double inverted commas)
- Now go to settings > About Phone > System Updates and you will see that update is received. Install the update. [If you cant see the update check the name, update the Motorola Update Service app, reboot device, if still not detected go to recovery and wipe cache].
- After Phone reboots you will see that your phone is now updated from 4.4.4 to official 5.0.2.
- Rebooting will also take 10 mins so don't panic when you see Motorola symbol for a long time.
After You have successfully installed 5.0.2 you need to install the 13 Mb update.
- Download the 13 Mb update from here. [13 Mb]
- Copy the Android L 5.0.2 13 Mb zip that you downloaded into External SD card.
- Make sure the name of the zip file is "Blur_Version.22.21.36.condor_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03"
- Now go to settings > About Phone > System Updates and you will see that update is received. Install the update. [If you cant see the update check the name, reboot device, if still not detected go to recovery and wipe cache].
- Phone will be updated and rebooted :)
Now It's time for the official 5.1 to be installed
- Update the 'Motorola Update service' app from the play store.
- Download the Android 5.1 OTA zip from here. [209 Mb][Thanks to Saurabh Sinha]..
- Download and rename the zip file as "Blur_Version.23.21.15.condor_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03"
- Copy the Android L 5.1 zip that you downloaded into External SD card
- Now go to settings > About Phone > System Updates and you will see that update is received. Install the update. [If you cant see the update check the name, update the Motorola Update Service app, reboot device, if still not detected go to recovery and wipe cache].
- After Phone reboots you will see that your phone is now updated from 5.0.2 to official 5.1.
If this things doesn't work for you then try side loading. [You won't need this :-P, above method works for sure].
If you are new to whatever that was explained above, or want a little information then click here Things you should know about android.
